We have a number of rides each week suitable for people of varying abilities. All rides meet at Roberttown Community Centre. Please see the news section of the website for further details on specific rides or you can email us. Rides are also advertised on Facebook and Twitter.
Coronavirus (Covid-19) Club Statement
As a result of the Government’s revised guidance, Cycling UK has taken the decision to ask all its member and affiliate groups not to run any group activities, including club runs or events. It is with sadness that all Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday Club rides and activities will be suspended until further notice. We will regularly monitor advice from Cycling UK.
However, club members should not avoid cycling altogether as it remains a great way to keep fit and active and is a good way to boost immunity. Always ride at a safe distance from others. Visits to cafes and pubs should be avoided to limit exposure to infection. If you do visit a food outlet, you must wash your hands before and after visiting, and again on returning home.
It’s also advisable to wash your cycling gloves, too. Remember to avoid touching your face with your hands or gloves. Follow the Government and NHS guidelines for avoiding contamination.
During the spring and summer we have a weekly ride meeting at the community centre for a prompt 6.30pm departure. These rides are at a social pace and are usually between 10 and 20 miles.
During the autumn and winter months we usually run a turbo training session between 7-00pm and 8.00pm - Lounge area of Roberttown Community Centre.
We have 5 club turbos for use by members. Please bring your own if you have one. Please arrive by 6:45pm at the latest to allow time to set up.
Thursday are leisurely rides which leave the Community Centre at 6:30pm and are suitable for hybrid and mountain bikes. The routes follow Greenways, canal tow paths, tracks and quiet roads.
Meet at Roberttown Community Centre on Church Road for a 9.00am departure. Choice of two rides one short and one longer ride.
The 8:30am ride is usually 35 + miles, the 9:00am ride is around 20 miles. Both routes, where possible will include a cafe stop for tea and cakes.
Although these are road rides, riders on mountain bikes and hybrid bikes are welcome.
The routes vary each week.
Any member who is involved in any incident while on a club ride should complete an incident report form and e mail a copy to the chairperson in order that cycling UK can be informed.
Please take time to familiarise yourself with the document and information required.
